India requests an extra warm up match in Australia

India has observed a debacle in their recent performances against England. Apart from injury issues and too much of cricket being played these days, one more factor for this debacle is lack of match practice in English conditions. Hence BCCI is compelled to reconsider the tour schedule against Australia.


India has requested Cricket Australia to add an extra warm up match in the tour. Currently Indian team is scheduled to play just one warm up match on 18th December. Cricket Australia is seriously considering the request as they share very good relations with the BCCI.


Nowadays with cricketers playing a lot of cricket, they need to adapt the foreign conditions. This needs an early arrival at the destination and atleast couple of warm up matches to begin with. So hopefully this time BCCI plans things well in advance and we all observe a nice series down under.

England eyes a victory on day 5 against Sri Lanka

Another match where England dominates Sri Lanka and is very close for another test victory. At stumps on day 4, Sri Lanka were 112 for 3. They still trailed by 81 runs. After Paranavitana left early, Thirimanne showed a good resistance. Sangakkara is batting well and batting good enough to frustrate the home team. But a couple of wickets on day 5 will leave Sri Lanka in all kinds of trouble.


Ian Bell's 119 not out laid the foundation of England's big lead over Sri Lanka. As England eyes a victory here they may clinch the series 2-0; also improving their ICC rankings. This will take them close to the number one spot in test rankings. 


The trio of Anderson, Tremlett and Broad were again impressive as they claimed one wicket each. Just one good bowling spell and the test match will completely swing England's way.

India Vs West Indies 2011 series kicks off with a T20 match to be played on 4th June. According to the latest news, Suresh Raina would be the captain of Indian team in T20 and ODI matches. This decision came after it was concluded that the stand in captain Gautam Gambhir won't be able to feature in the whole tour due to an injury. Regular Indian captain MS Dhoni is rested for T20 and ODI series. 

Yuvraj Singh is suffering from lung infection and hence he would also miss this Indian tour to West Indies. He was Man of the series in the ICC World Cup 2011. Sachin Tendulkar was rested from ODIs, but he also took a rest from the test series. Vireneder Sehwag underwent a surgery to his shoulder. He would be fit to play only for the Indian tour to England which will begin in July. 

Meanwhile in the West Indies camp, selectors have again sidelined Chris Gayle and they haven't included him in the T20 and first two ODI matches. Sammy would continue to be the skipper. Day 5 begins with England's score of 491 for 5 and Ian Bell unbeaten on 98. England lead's the Sri Lankan total of 400 by 95 runs. This match could have been interesting if it wasn't affected by rain. Probably a target for Sri Lanka on the last day would have added some flavour to this run feast. 


Day 4 belonged to England where the in form Trott went on to score 203 before he was bowled by Dilshan. Cook fell on 133. Morgan was not out with Bell. The batting department of England ensured that they won't lose this match from here on. Day 4 had only 63 overs of play. Forecast doesn't even look good for day 5. In last ten overs of Day 4, England scored 41 runs. 


Highlight of England innings has been Trott's double ton and a 251 runs stand between Trott and Cook. Trott's 203 is the highest score by any England batsmen in test cricket against Sri Lanka. Hopefully some excitement is in store for Day 5 of this England Vs Sri Lanka test match.

Day 1 was majorly affected by rain. 48 overs of play was possible and it belonged to the Sri Lankan batsmen. Although England bowlers were able to create two inroads in the Lankan batting lineup, but at stumps SL was comfortably placed on 133 for 2.

As Day 2 begins, Sri Lanka will start the proceedings with Jayawardene and Paranavitana. Openers fared well for SL, as captain Dilshan scored 50 before Swann provided England the first breakthrough. He bowled Dilshan for 50 which included 7 boudaries. Paranavitana was brilliant as he is unbeaten on 58. He was very well focused on the crease as he took 154 balls to score those runs. The other bowler to take a wicket was Anderson who sent Sangakkara back to pavilion for 11 runs. 

English bowlers have to toil hard if they have to bowl out the strong batting line up of Sri Lanka. But as we all know the certainty factor of this great game, we can see tumbling wickets and English batsmen soon on the crease.

RCB Vs CSK - Race to the top of the points tally

A neighborhood rivalry and an added flavor of race to the top will be the major highlight of the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings. The match venue is M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.


Why the top four teams are so eager to make it to the top two? It is simply because this IPL has a updated format where top two teams are placed in first qualifier and winner of this match directly enters final. The loser will not be eliminated but will get an opportunity again to enter finals by playing against the winner of 2nd qualifier (which would consist of a match between 3rd and 4th placed team).


CSK has 18 points from 13 matches and RCB has 17. RCB kicked off the IPL proceedings with ordinary performances and not too many wins. After the entry of Jamaican Chris Gayle, they won all and just lost one against KXIP. This loss was majorly because Gayle was out on a duck. This clearly shows the dependence of RCB on Chris Gayle. Their bowling department may get a boost today if Vettori and Zaheer Khan are included in the playing XI.


CSK has enjoyed contributions from all the players including Hussey, Raina, Dhoni and Badrinath. Even the bowling line up has always looked balanced with Bollinger, Ashwin and Morkel. The only thing that CSK has to worry about is that they have won just two matches out of home in this IPL.


The another exciting match today will be between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders. One of the best days of IPL 2011 where four top teams will play against each other to earn the top spot.

Pakistan in a better position in initial stages against West Indies

After losing the first test to West Indies by 40 runs, Pakistan looks a bit in better position in the initial stages. Here at Warner Park, St Kitts; Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat first. Start was disappointing as openers fell cheaply. Hafeez was out on 8 and Umar on 11. Azhar Ali stuck to the crease and scored 67 off 196 balls. He got good helping hand from Misbah who scored 25 and Umar Akmal who managed 56 runs from 88 balls. Tanvir in the bottom half contributed a very useful 57 with 10 boundaries. Saeed Ajmal at the bottom contributed a vital 23 and stood not out. 


In reply to Pakistan's 272, West Indies got a shaky start. Simmons left early for a duck. Brathwaite couldn't wait for too long as he joined his partner in the pavilion for 15 runs. Sarwan was looking good with his start but Ajmal claimed his wicket for 20. Samuels and Bravo tried to anchor the inning and give some balance to it. But Bravo left the crease when he was playing on 24. West Indies certainly needs a good partnership here if they have to reach somewhere in the vicinity of Pakistani total.


As far as bowling is concerned, Rampaul and Bishoo took 3 wickets each. Sammy took 2 and Roach got one. Still there is a lot left in this match. Too early to predict anything. A good partnership and West Indies could be on top again. Something close to Pakistan's score would make this match interesting.

CSK plays KTK with an unbeaten home streak

Chennai Super Kings have won 7 out of 7 matches playing at home. Today they take on Kochi Tuskers Kerala at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium with an aim to win and make it to the play offs. About KTK, they have no other option but to win here and win it in style. A huge win would help them in furtherance of net run rate.

KTK would play in absence of Mahela Jayawardene. Their batting largely depends on McCullum, who is the only batsman in their team to have crossed the 300 runs milestone. Their bowling predominantly depends on Sreesanth, Parameswaran and R.P.Singh. If their batting department clinches today, they may create an upset here in Chennai. A win today would merely be a step towards play offs because even a win won't ensure them a place in the next round. For this they will have to sit back and pray if KKR and KXIP losses rest of their matches.

CSK being the defending champion, hasn't faced any major problems this year. All the players have contributed to team's victories. Bowling has been good in presence of Morkel, Bollinger and Ashwin. Batsmen like Dhoni, Hussey, Badrinath and Raina have always been responsible for a 'not to worry' situation for the team. So overall CSK looks favourites but uncertainty in cricket prevails. A spirited performance from KTK can turn tables around.

KXIP takes on RCB at Dharamsala

The beautiful stadium of Dharamsala hosts a tight match today between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings Eleven Punjab. A royal win here by Punjab could strengthen their hopes of reaching the play offs. Royal Challengers are comfortably placed on the top of points table.

The highlight of this match would be face-off between Chris Gayle and Paul Valthaty. They are top 2 contenders for Orange cup currently. Both teams are majorly dependent on performances of Gayle and Valthaty. Kings XI do have batsmen like Gilchrist, Karthik, Marsh and Hussey to support. Some inspiring performances could earn KXIP a win here against RCB.

Virat Kohli is currently captaining RCB in absence of Daniel Vettori. He denies over dependency on Chris Gayle as he believes team has many other match winners. He added that captaincy is a responsible task but he is enjoying it. 

Bowling coach of KXIP; Jason Gillespie said they have plans for Chris Gayle. About team's mood right now, he said the team is enjoying each game as it comes. Not to forget, it was Chris Gayle who scored a ton in 49 balls against KXIP. 

Hopefully we observe another run feast at Dharamsala today.
